2nd Annual Uru Manuka Ki-O-Rail tournament

On Friday, the 7th of September, Gilberthorpe School hosted the 2nd Annual Uru Manuka Ki-O-Rahi Tournament. (The first tournament was held at Yaldhurst Model School last year).

Teams from Hornby Primary, South Hornby School, Yaldhurst Model School, and of course our very own Gilberthorpe School, participated in the tournament. It was held over 5 rounds, with each team having a bye during the round. The team having a bye wasn't able to rest though! They had the responsibility of refereeing the four games that were being played. It was a great afternoon, with great camaraderie being shown amongst the akonga in our Uru Manuka Cluster.

We are looking forward to next year's tournament already!

  1. Hi Gilberthorpes,

My name is Jedi and I also participated in Ki-O Rahi. It was so much fun! And thank you guys so much for hosting the game, we really appreciate it. This post is great because you added pictures, a paragraph describing the day. And not only that, you included instructions on how to play.

Keep up the great work Guys!

    1. Hi Gracie,
That's pretty cool that you feature on our blog! I'm really pleased you found yourself on there. If you let me know which photo it is then I could email it to your teacher ;-)
I found the day both fun and challenging. Fun, because it was great to see all the schools interacting and having such a great time. Challenging because, as the organiser, I was worried about something might go wrong!
